Just got a recall letter from Mazda about a potentially dangerous parking brake actuator on my Mazda3 that, according to Mazda, "In extreme cases, the rusted actuator shaft may get stuck in the brake caliper body, causing brake dragging while driving and decreasing the parking brake holding force, which may result in unexpected movement of vehicle if parked on a slope, increasing the risk of a collision." The recall was issued June 22, 1017, but I didn't get a recall notice until today, Aug. 28, 2017, more than TWO MONTHS later.

When I tried to contact the Mazda toll-free line, the system put me on hold for 30 minutes so I gave up and called the dealership. In addition to such a tardy notification about a potentially dangerous design/manufacturing flaw, even worse is the fact that as of today, Mazda has no repair parts available and no projected date when they will be available, according to both the Mazda website and the service department at Superior Mazda in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The dealer's service manager was sympathetic, but could offer no remedy. Hey, Mazda, it's a brake problem, which you admit could increase "the risk of a collision!"

Location: 200 Spectrum Center Dr Ste. 100, Irvine, CA 92618, USA

I received the recall letter too, calipers do need to be replaced.

It's been 2 months just called Mazda service and they're going to look into it some more whatever that means. I like my Mazda 3 however after dealing with backorder issues on brake calipers boot kits and even pads I would never buy a Mazda product again nor would I recommend anyone buy a Mazda product.
