Verified ReviewerSeat Warmer Malfunction in 2016 Mazda 6
I've been trying to make the rounds through different methods to get a response from Mazda regarding a problem I had with my 2016 Mazda 6. While driving home from work one evening the seat heater in the passenger seat malfunctioned and burned *** through the seat. It happened during a snowstorm that was so bad that my normally 30 minute drive home took over 3 hours. I have no idea how it happened. The seat heater must have been left on by the previous passenger in my car. It's not something that's ever been on my radar to check because seat heaters shouldn't get hot enough to burn through the leather seats.
The day after it happened I reached out to the Orem Mazda service department. That's the location I purchased the car (new on the lot) and I've always brought it to them for every service. Every oil change and every repair has gone through the Orem Mazda service department. I was very disappointed in their response. The car is out of warranty and they won't even consider getting this repair looked at without charging me. I understand the warranty is expired, however, I do know there are some things that stretch beyond a warranty. A seat heater that malfunctions in such a way that it could potentially be a deadly situation in the middle of a snowstorm is highly concerning to me. The seat heaters are very important to me. I've had two back surgeries and the heat in the seat is the only way I can loosen my stiff back on a long drive. Now I'm extremely nervous about running the seat heater in the driver's seat.
It was shocking to me how little interest the service department had in looking at the car to discover the cause of the malfunction.
I left a review on the Google Orem Mazda page with pictures. It's currently the top review on their website. I've noticed the store will respond to all positive reviews, but it's crickets for all negative reviews. It's so disappointing to go from being a very happy customer to this.
Preferred solution: I'm asking they repair the vehicle at not cost to me with confirmation that the malfunction will not happen again.
User's recommendation: Beware of the seat heaters in Mazda vehicles

Verified Reviewer | Guadalajara, JaliscoGHOST TOUCH INFOTAINMENT ISSUES - MAZDA CX5 (12,500 miles)
I bought a new CX5 2019 Mazda... I am located in Guadalajara, Mexico...
My car has only 12,500 miles and has been parked in my closed garage for long period of times. I bought the extended warranty for 6 years.
My vehicle has been showing issues with its infotainment system (Ghost Touch). The infotainment system acts up on its own as if a ghost was operating it. It scrolls, click random buttons, and even dial-up numbers from contacts while I am on the go, something that is very distracting and could lead to accidents.
I called Mazda Mexico and the answer was it is not covered by the extended warranty (even it does not mention anything in the extended warranty policy).
Mazda Mexico has mentioned I need to pay for the repair of the screen touch ($500 US Dlls). Besides, Mazda has blamed on me saying I have been parked my car under the sun (which is really ridiculous) and this is causing to have the issue reported.
I completely disagree on this since this is an issue Mazda is aware of... I have been reviewing in some social medias and there are tons of complaints on this "ghost infotainment issue".
My biggest concern here is... Why Mazda is not working directly with his supplier to fix this issue?
It is very easy for Mazda to charge directly the problem-cost to the final Customer.
I am really disappointed with Mazda. Quality and Reliability is horrible. I will never buy again a Mazda vehicle...
if you are planning to... think twice before taking the final decision..
- Nice to drive
- Poor quality and reliability
Preferred solution: Full refund

Bad customer service
Two times visited mazda ulu kelang service centre in one week to repair a check engine light that appeared to be a sensor faulty for my Mazda 6.
The first time I had an appointment to check and repair that was confirmed twice by a supervisor and a service advisor by phone, and b by sms and WhatsApp, then when I was on my way there I received a WhatsApp text telling me that they have to reschedule my appointment because they dont have a technician at the service centre (what??? !!!
a service centre that doesnt have a technician?) I said I cant because I took a day off for that appointment and went there.
Reached there and I had an ok experience for the first time (and ok here means acceptable standard and not outstanding) if they did their job properly and we (me, the service advisor and the technician) didnt have to go to a proton service centre belonging to ACT Chievers sdn bhd. As they didnt have the right tools to install a sensor to my Mazda 6 ( pay attention here! Authorised Mazda service centre that doesnt have the right tool to replace a sensor) god help me.
Mazda Malaysia did NOT have the sensor which they have to order from Japan and it will take 2-3 months to arrive! Yeah since we are living on earth and the space parts are coming Jupiter, (So ironic), a trip to outer space and coming back will be in less than a day nowadays.
Can you get the sensor from outside suppliers?
I asked, and yes the sales advisor replied but no warranty was offered.
Ok, please get it.
Is it a genuine Mazda? She said yes.
Ok.
The job was done with a sour face and attitude which I dont really understand why.
On the same day after they installed the sensor and got my car, the check engine light came on again and I have to take a screenshot, and send it to them the next morning.
Seriously I am not sure if they have replaced the old sensor with a new one as they didnt bother to show me any, not the new nor the faulty sensor that they claimed they replaced, which cost RM 700+.
The next morning I was told that I need to change another sensor which cost 1300+ and I have to go and pay a deposit for them to order it and then fix the check engine light (again)! okay, I went there the next day (Friday) and paid a 50% deposit and was told that I have to wait till mid-next week for them to order and then replace the faulty one, god save me this time
How about I pay for the delivery charges and you fix it today I told the service advisor ms joe, no sir we cant as we have to wait for Mazda lorry to deliver, she replied.
What if something wrong happens to the engine during this time? I asked, and she kept quiet.
Fine!
I paid the deposit on Friday and I have to wait till Wednesday.
I asked her to send me a confirmation text for the new service date which she ignored and I received it only a day before, forgetting not that they showered me with smss to rate their service after the first time allegedly sensor replacement took place.
Wednesday I came as scheduled 10am, ms joe wasnt there and the service advisor said joe is not in today and tomorrow and she has no clue about the repair scheduled and its not her job to handle joe appointments, so I have to show her the sms confirmation so she is convinced (her answer came after she checked the system for my schedule).
An unprofessional, impolite defensive behaviour which I have seen often at Mazda service centres starting from Bermaz Ampang to Auto tulin segambut, and Mazda Glenmari Shah Alam.
The defensive, rude and unprofessional approach that the employees have at Mazda service centres have never been seen or heard of.
This service advisor insisted that I should go and leave my car there and they will call me back when its ready!
Excuse me! Why do you have seats, waiting area and drinks for your customers if you want them to leave? Or this is how it is at Mazda service centres now? Chasing out their loyal customers that without them such an employee wont be able to get her salary at the end of the month and will be jobless at home.
By the way, she didnt ask any of the customers who came after me to leave their cars and get out, I wonder why?
Then at least another 3 customers came after I delivered my car for the repair were serviced before my car!
I also wonder why?
Mazda and ACT Chievers are not doing it for free, nor doing me a favour!
I am paying for it and extra, I am not begging for a charity its my hard-earned money.
Is this really happening? Yes at Mazda service centres it is.
It looks like this is the kind of manners and professionalism standard that a reputable brand like Mazda employees have.
I think 1 star is too much for after-sales Mazda service deserves for such pathetic customer service.
Collected the car after 2½ hours, service advisor didn't even bother to tell me that my car is ready, let the mechanic to tell me that and passed the papers to the cashier that doesn't even know how to speak English, will wait and see if it's really fixed as they claim.
A 2k+ was paid to this service centre for a check engine light that has not been repaired.
Thanks a lot Mazda, you have a really good plan to keep your loyal customers.
Have some respect for your customers and train your staff to be polite and have manners which obviously they lack.

Verified ReviewerLong-term battery issues
Contacted by Mazda who stated that a Case Manager would be in contact but was currently on vacation for Christmas holiday. Have NOT yet been contacted(almost end of January). I have driven more miles but not significantly more; weather in my area has been warmer than...
New service manager at the dealership in this last scenario of a "failed cell" told me of all the issues that impact a battery with low mileage driving. Conclusion: this will be the last battery replaced FOC because unless you drive MORE miles, this problem will continue and we will charge you for replacement. Is this a common problem with all cars (Ford, Honda, Toyota, Nissan), as he stated, or is it a common problem with Mazda?
No help from Mazda Customer Care who kept telling me to bring to a dealership to have diagnostics done. I've yet to find a warning in their manual or a warning on their "standard OEM Mazda battery" - at least none was provided - regarding low mileage driving (5-6,000 miles annually).
- There are nice features such as heated seats
- Backup warning
- Mileage per gallon is low and battery issues are high
Preferred solution: A permanent solution to the battery problems.
User's recommendation: I've seen it noted a lot out there: stay away from Mazda 2016.

I have full coverage insurance and Gap insurance through Mazda when I purchased the vehicle in 5/26/22 and it is still under the 36000k miles.
It's been over 40 days in the shop now. I don't have another vehicle and need to continue making monthly payments to Mazda financial on a car I can't drive.
